Athletes practice in groups primarily by skill level and secondarily by age and are placed accordingly by the coaching staff.

ATHLETES ARE WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY PRACTICE THAT IS OFFERED AT ANY LOCATION MATCHING THEIR ASSIGNED PRACTICE GROUP

Intro Exclusively to elementary-age boys and girls ages 5-10 introduce them to the sport of water polo. The focus will be on swimming skills, fundamentals of water polo movements and ball-handling skills. Kids will have fun and become stronger in the water. The intent is to provide basic skills and understanding of the sport in a social and recreational format. Athletes in this age group usually don't compete in tournaments. Practices spend a majority of the time working on swimming technique and learning very basic ball drills. 
Swim2Score Most athletes in this group are 8-13 years old and are continuing to improve their swimming skills in all strokes as more water polo specific techniques are added. Occasionally athletes compete in a game day or a tournament when invited by a coach. Practices consist of swimming, water polo drills, and occasional scrimmages.
10U Coed This beginner-level competition group is designed to introduce to build on Intro and Swim2Score with athletes usually 8-10 years old. Athletes should attend a minimum of 3 weekly practices and take advantage of intra-mural game days, local and regional tournaments.
12U Coed This intermediate-level competition group is designed for athletes ages 10-12 with competent swimming abilities who are interested in growing their water polo knowledge and skills. Athletes in this group attend a minimum of 4 weekly practices (80 percent of practices) and compete in local, regional and state competitions.
Pre-Competiion High School The Pre-Competition group is available for high schoolers interested in improving their game. Set practice times available 4 days a week.
14U Boys This advanced-level competition group is designed for athletes ages 14 and under with strong swimming abilities who are interested in furthering their moderate water polo knowledge and skills. Most of these athletes aspire to later compete at the collegiate level and attend practices a minimum of 4 per week and compete in regional, state and national championships.
14U Girls This advanced-level competition group is designed for athletes ages 14 and under with strong swimming abilities who are interested in furthering their moderate water polo knowledge and skills. Most of these athletes aspire to later compete at the collegiate level and attend practices a minimum of 4 per week and compete in regional, state and national championships.
18U/16U Boys This advanced-level competition group is designed for athletes ages 15-18 with strong swimming abilities who are interested in furthering their moderate water polo knowledge and skills. We suggest athletes in this group attend a minimum of 4 weekly practices and compete in regional, state and national competitions. 
18U Girls This advanced-level competition group is designed for athletes ages 15-18 with strong swimming abilities who are interested in furthering their moderate water polo knowledge and skills. We suggest athletes in this group attend a minimum of 4 weekly practices and compete in regional, state and national competitions.
Goalies Athletes that have been identified or want to try out to become a goalie are encouraged to attend this practice session in addition to their age group practices. This program is offered off and on throughout the year.

The coaching staff will evaluate all athletes on an ongoing basis to determine group placement.
